Summer, 2012
- Session 1: Having Fun on Stage!
- Entering Grades 2 – 5
- *June 18 – 28
- 8:30 to Noon
- Students in this class will experience the joy of performing on stage through many creative theatre games and activities. They will learn to express themselves verbally and physically. In a collaborative and supportive atmosphere, actors will create a 30 minute improvisational play that will be performed for the public at the end of the session.
- There will be two public performances of their play at HART Theatre on the evenings of June 28 and 29. All participants must be able to attend those performances.
- Session 2: Theatre Production
- Entering Grades 5 – 12
- *June 18 – 28
- 12:30 to 4:00
- Students in this class will produce a one-act comedy scripted play. Through this process they will learn about character development, stage position, stage presence, voice inflection and much more. Even though the play is scripted, there will be lots of room for the actors’ input and creativity.
- There will be two public performances of the play at HART Theatre on the evenings of June 28 and 29. All participants must be able to attend those performances.
- Session 3: Delve into Acting
- Entering Grades 6 – 12
- *July 23 – Aug 2
- 8:30 to Noon

In a collaborative and supportive atmosphere, actors will create a 30 minute improvisational play that will be performed for the public at the end of the session.
- There will be two public performances of their play at HART Theatre on the evenings of August 2 and 3. All participants must be able to attend those performances.
- Session 4: Theatre Production
- Entering Grades 5 – 12
- *July 23 – Aug 2
- 12:30 to 4:00

- There will be two public performances of the at HART Theatre on the evenings of August 2 and 3. All participants must be able to attend those performances.
*First week of each session is Monday through Friday. The second week is Monday through Thursday.
The first week of each session will be located at Poynter Middle School, 1535 NE Grant St., Hillsboro. The second week will be held at HART Theatre, 185 SE Washington St, Hillsboro.
Maximum number of participants in each session is 16.
Registration will be done through Hillsboro Parks and Rec starting April 23.
Out of city residents will not have to pay an extra fee.
Fee:
- $120.00 for each session
- $220.00 for students who sign up for morning and afternoon session.
